Lister’s Lucid Elixir – Stoelzle’s Latest Concept Bottle Design

Lister’s Lucid Elixir - Stoelzle's Latest Concept Bottle Design

Date Published

Designed as a case-study by Stoelzle Flaconnage (UK), Lister’s Lucid Elixir is a non-alcoholic spirit, encompassing the philosophy that a sober night can be a better one. The product showcases innovative features which re-invents the way we visualise a glass bottle.

The kaleidoscopic base, which is a visual representation of intoxication, also has the function of stipple, proving that the design doesn’t have to get compromised for manufacturing necessities. While utilising every aspect of the pack to re-enforce the idea behind the brand, the design team created a sloped shoulder to conjure up a psychedelic whirlpool. To top off the design, a bespoke Vinolok closure has been created for an effortless touch of prestigious quality, the closure was also designed with a hexagonal shape to seamlessly fit with the glass profile. Along with such features, the rich purple colour leaves a lasting example of innovation and creativity.

With this design, boundaries of what can be achieved in glass design and manufacturing have been pushed, without the need of a more manual production process. What makes this achievable is the wealth of knowledge Steolzle has across design and engineering to initially come up with the concept and the decades of knowledge from our colleagues in the factory to produce such a unique product.

The Design Process

Step 1 – Market research

By understanding consumer behaviours and future trends, we established a market set to dominate the beverage industry. A non-alcoholic beverage began the basis of this case study, creating a brand and product to become a visionary for the market.

Step 2 – Visualisation of intoxication

A moodboard was created with a range of psychedelic imagery, as a representation to the effects of alcohol consumption. Combined with apothecary references, we created ideas that explore the brands possibilities.

Step 3 – 3D development

Along with an innovative design, we were able to engineer a bottle with daring features that push the boundaries of glass making capabilities. Our wealth of experience in making glass, gives us the knowledge to design engineer the bottle for efficient and effective manufacturing. We engineered a harmony between aesthetics and purpose, the kaleidoscopic base has a function to act as base stipple, a necessary element to any glass bottle.

Step 4 – Label design & decoration

Once the glass design was established, we then began to develop the brand identity further and create the design for the labels and decoration. Unlocking a new dimension staying sober, the label features grids which transcend into a liquid like form, encapsulating the idea of a psychedelic episode.
